For the love of blackwork
I designed this chart to celebrate my enduring love of blackwork embroidery. The scissors are reminiscent of the first pair of embroidery scissors I owned (now broken, still treasured.) The fill in the little bobbin is one of the earliest blackwork fills I ever stitched and the embroidered cuff, of course, refers to the origins of blackwork embroidery.
Oh blackwork! How I love you!
This design might look challenging, but it is made up from all whole stitches. There are some diagonal stitches, but these are either 'knights move stitches' (so, making a diagonal by counting across 1 and up 2, for example) or just a bit longer (for instance, counting across by 3 and up by 1) so it really is quite straightforward.
Design size in stitches - quite dinky! - 104 w x 104 h
Size on 14 count aida 19 x 19 cm (7.5 x 7.5 inches)
Size on 16 count aida 16.5 x 16.5 cm (6.5 x 6.5 inches)
Size on 18 count aida 15 x 15 cm (6 x 6 inches)
This is a PDF file of a Blackwork embroidery chart, not a finished product.
