Weaving knot - graduated blackwork stitch-a-long - now complete!
This weaving knot design uses graduated blackwork fills to create a 3-D effect. This may look a little complicated but I've made it hopefully very easy, as there is a simple 'base' layer, that consists of a simple blackwork design that fills each section, that you then add to, magically creating the shading. The chart includes each section broken down as you can see in the included image.
Also, there are no fractional stitches and only very simple 45 degree diagonal stitches (so just across diagonally from corner to corner) It really does just use very simple stitches to create quite a complex looking design!
My stitching was done on 18 count with a double strand of DMC 310 for the outline and a single strand for the fills. I would recommend using 2 strands for the outline as I feel this design just needs that little bit of extra definition at the edges.
Design size in stitches 156 x 156
On 14 count 28.5 x 28.5 cms (11.5 x 11.5 inches), so you can pop it in a 12 inch hoop to work on/display
On 16 count 25 x 25 cms (9.75 x 9.75 inches), might just about fit in a 10 inch hoop, if not then a 12 inch
On 18 count 22 x 22 cm (9 x 9 inches), just the right size for a 10 inch hoop :)
