I know this looks like a complicated stitch and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as your first blackwork piece but....is made from just a small selection of simple stitches: straight up/down/sideways, diagonally from corner to corner or a 'knight's move' stitch (so, as a knight chess piece moves - across 1 up 2, or across 2 up 1 etc) there are no longer or more complicated stitches than this!

Pretty happy with how this one came out :)

These designs measure the same as my botanical blocks - 120 x 120 stitches

On 14 count is 22 x 22 cm, on 16 count 19 x 19 cm & on 18 count 17 x 17 cm.
