From day one creativity was positively encouraged in the 2020 free stitch-a-long. It started out as a relatively simple SAL, but it was morphed and transformed, by the creativity and generosity of the group, into something far more random and far more beautiful.
Thanks to the intrepid nature of our members this stitch-a-long evolved and took on a life of its own to become a wide variety of projects with personality. Our little squares became hexagons, fillable alphabets, garden layouts…Beautifully stitched text was added and insects flew in to join the flowers. Additional files created by our members were also shared for all to use, The projects became bookmarks, cushions, pouches, chessboards, quilts…. And then there was colour. So many different and glorious interpretations. If you haven’t already seen the 2020 SAL gallery, please click here to take a peek at some examples of the varied and wonderful work this collaborative affair produced.
We had over 5 and a half thousand lovely supportive members, ranging from first time blackwork stitchers, to experts, who generously share their knowledge.
The 2021 SAL is now well and truly up and running (with almost twice as many members this year) but it's not too late to join in, you can click here to be taken to facebook SAL group or, if you are not on facebook please send me a message by clicking here.
